Herbie Hancock‘s Sextant was released in 1973 but recorded in 1972, Sextant was Herbie Hancock’s first album on Columbia Records. It was a complex, harmonically and rhythmically challenging musical statement. Hancock was no stranger to electronic music, having used synthesisers extensively during his short time with Warner Bros. Records, but Sextant took his sound to a new level.

The album is very deep and a great journey into the spiritual side of jazz-funk music.

My favourite number on the album is ” Hidden Shadows “.

After the great studio sessions with Fred Wesley and Anthony Joseph we are back in studio again!

The album is almost done : a big thanks to Alex Trebo, Pasquale Mirra, Guglielmo Pagnozzi, Danilo Mineo, Lorenzo Gasperoni and Bruno Briscik for the great studio performance.

I will start with the editing soon and hopefully be ready for the mixdown in September.
